The Budget projects a further improvement in 2025-26, to a deficit of $3.4 billion, followed by a surplus of $1.1 billion in each of 2027-28 and 2028-29.
● A $9.4 billion reduction in the debt projected relative to the 2023 Pre-electionBudget Update, will save around $400 million in interest payments every year.
● $1.2 billion has been allocated to reform the state’s child protection system — the largest investment in this area to date.
● The government will underwrite up to $1 billion in housing projects to accelerate the delivery of approximately 15,000 additional homes.
● $452 million will expand commuter services, including 50 new buses. A further $1billion is allocated for upgrades between Liverpool and the Western Sydney Airport.
● $12.4 billion will be invested in health infrastructure, including carry over funding from previous budgets. Of this, $3.3 billion will be spent between 2023–2026.
● Four new schools will be constructed, with several existing schools to receive major upgrades under a $9 billion, four-year education infrastructure program.
● A new Investment Delivery Authority will be established to fast-track private sector projects exceeding $1 billion in value.
