Cut-off refers to a deadline for the receipt of bills. If a bill is received from the House of Representatives more than two-thirds of the way through a sitting period, it is automatically adjourned until the next period of sittings. It is done to prevent an end of sitting rush of legislation.
Budget Estimates are hearings designed to allow Parliamentary Committees to examine the federal budget. It also provides a forum for committees to examine issues relevant to the expenditure, performance, and effectiveness of government departments and agencies.
Supplementary Budget Estimates are the dates put into the parliamentary sitting calendar for any extra Budget Estimates hearings that may need to take place. This is done to allow for extra sessions to coincide with sitting dates. It is worth noting that supplementary budget estimate hearings can take place at other times outside of scheduled calendar dates if necessary.
Note: Parliamentary sitting dates are subject to change and additional dates may be added if the government requires more time to pass a piece of legislation.
